Burnished American Platinum Eagle Coins
Burnished Platinum Eagles are created through a specialized minting process. Burnished coin blanks are hand fed into specially prepared presses one at a time. Although the appearance of the coins is similar to the bullion versions, these uncirculated versions typically have a superior strike and finish and are handled more delicately. These coins were referred to as collectible uncirculated versions and feature the "W" mint mark for West Point.
Platinum Eagle Design
Released in 1997, the Platinum American Eagle is the only investment-grade Platinum coin from the United States Mint. It is also the only bullion coin the United States Government guarantees for weight, content, and .9995 purity. Besides their purity, the Platinum Eagle coins have also increased in popularity for their stunning designs. The obverse of the Platinum American Eagle features the Statue of Liberty, a symbol of freedom to all who see her. While the reverse design changes annually, it usually depicts an American eagle. This majestic bird signifies the strength and security of the United States. Celebrating the patriotism and spirit of freedom of the United States, the American Platinum Eagles are some of the most elegant Platinum coins on the market.
