The oldest significant design among commemoratives is the 1893 Isabella Quarter. Bringing in the 20th Century is the 1900 Lafayette Silver Dollar. Two coins from 1915 are key: the 1915-S Panama Pacific Half Dollar and the 1915-S Gold Panama Pacific $2.50. Numismatists consider the 1918 Illinois Lincoln Half Dollar, the 1921 Pilgrim Half Dollar and the 1921 Alabama 2x2 Half Dollar to be among the most valuable coins from the early 1900s. As the century rolled on, the United States issued commemorative currencies such as the 1922 Grant Half Dollar, designed with a patriotic star, and the 1924 Missouri 2x4 Half Dollar. All years of the Oregon Trail series are considered key dates. Hawaii was honored with a commemorative Half Dollar in 1928 which is still popular among collectors today. The U.S. Mint made several famous coins in the 1930s, including the 1935 Hudson Half Dollar, a 1935 Spanish Trail Half Dollar, the handsome 1936 Gettysburg Half Dollar and, in remembrance of the American Civil War battle, a 1937 Antietam Half Dollar.
