Morning Gold & Silver Market Report – 4/10/2014

The Gold price has continued to move upward for the third day in a row. Comments made last month by Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen that the Fed could end its monthly bond purchases by Fall sent Gold prices lower. However, with this week’s release of the Federal Open Market Committee meeting minutes, it became apparent that Fed officials were not likely to raise interest rates anytime soon. "The main takeaway from the meeting minutes is: nothing has changed, any perception of added hawkishness is miscommunication," Phillip Futures analyst Joyce Liu said.

Jobless claims fell to a near seven-year low of 300,000, which was lower than the 320,000 many economists expected, helping stocks recover some early losses. Stock futures had fallen after an earlier report that China’s exports and imports unexpectedly dropped off in March. Any news that the Chinese economy is slowing will generally affect the equity markets negatively.
