Washington State’s sales tax is currently 6.5% at this time. Additionally, some local areas have collect their own sales taxes. Seattle, for example, collects a local sales tax of 3%, for a combined total of 9.5%. Washington state’s sales taxes are among the highest in the nation. This means that making large investment purchases in Washington requires careful attention to avoiding taxable items.
