Regional Food Bank’s Chefs’ Feast Event Raises More Than $170,000 for Hungry Oklahoma Children
On March 1, 2019, for the third year in a row, APMEX.com helped sponsor the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma’s 32nd annual Chefs’ Feast. The event showcased many of the Oklahoma City metro area’s premier chefs and restaurants and raised more than $170,000 for the Regional Food Bank’s Food for Kids Programs.
The Food for Kids Programs offers a variety of support for children in Oklahoma who suffer from food insecurity. The Backpack Program provides children with a backpack full of non-perishable, nutritious food on Fridays to help sustain them for the weekends and school breaks. The School Pantry Program also provides food for middle and high school-aged kids over the weekend. Summer Feeding offers free breakfast and lunch during the non-schooling months of the year to those who cannot afford it. And the Kids Café provides tutoring as well as snacks for school-age kids.
“Year after year, we are so grateful for the generosity and kindness of our friends at APMEX.com,” Regional Food Bank Chief Executive Officer Katie Fitzgerald said. “Thanks to their continued kindness we are able to make a true difference in the lives of Oklahoma children living with food insecurity.”
APMEX Founder and President Scott Thomas grew up knowing hunger and it is from those humble beginnings that fueled APMEX’s passion to help others with the same need. The Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma is the perfect partner for APMEX, which is why they adopted the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma as their primary charity, as both companies are dedicated to “Fighting Hunger…Feeding Hope.”
“It is always an honor to work with the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma,” Thomas said. “Thanks to the donations received from the 2019 Chefs’ Feast, a total of 1,700 children will be fed for a year through the Food for Kids programs. It is such a blessing to be able to help those with food insecurity – especially the Oklahoma youth. We could not be more proud to partner with the Food Bank.”
