Gregory Cameron, a keen amateur artist and coin collector, is a Bishop of the Anglican Church in Wales, serving the Diocese of St. Asaph in North Wales. This is Gregory's second design for The Royal Mint. His first appeared on the last commemorative 'round pound' that was released earlier this year.
"While Christmas is based on a Christian story, it is a festival for everyone; a time when we celebrate the affinity and closeness in our families and beyond, and wish goodwill to all people. The style of the design is deliberately childlike, because the nativity scene is familiar, being performed as a play in schools up and down the country".
