Some pennies were worse than "Average"

Was this review helpful? Yes/ No

45 of the pennies met the description of "Average Circulation" condition. 5 of the pennies were cull or worse than cull, with completely missing dates, significant dings and dents, or covered in gum-like substance.

  • Cons
  • Poor Condition
  • Bottom Line
  • No, I would not recommend this to a friend

MEH, MIXED FEELINGS ON THESE.

Was this review helpful? Yes/ No

Purchased a roll of these Indian Head's on sale. I have mixed feelings on the quality. Advertised as 'Average Circulated' and many of them were, but there were also maybe half a dozen Bozos, culls or worse than culls in the lot. One had a hole in it, another was so worn it took a vivid imagination to label it as an Indian Head penny and I looked under my magnifier. I've always been very satisfied with AMPEX and will continue to purchase from them. As for these Indians, meh, I probably won't buy again and tell anyone that ask me about these not to expect too much but buy them and have fun.

My First Purchase

Was this review helpful? Yes/ No

I bought one roll of these. It came in a paper roll. Most were in VG-Fine condition, for Circulated. Common dates: Yes. Three were actually very bright, shiny & crisp: 1903, 04, 07. Only one was a true Clinker, worn & thin - a 1907. Two were dated 1895 & 1899...a bit more worn, probably Good-VG condition, no blemishes. I'd say: Good Value, for the price. Will likely buy more.

  • Pros
  • Value (low premium over spot)
  • Cons
  • Common (higher mintage)
  • Bottom Line
  • Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.

Good starter collection

Was this review helpful? Yes/ No

The good: Most were in quite nice condition for "average circulated". I will note, however, that I only found 2 in two rolls before 1890, and both were late 1880s. Obviously, I expected none before 1864 because of the "1864-1909" product description. A few common-date 1860s and/or 1870s would have been nice, even if the condition was a bit lower (about good). Obviously, I found no 1864L, 1877, 1908S. or 1909S (nor did I expect these very expensive dates).

  • Pros
  • Value (low premium over spot)
  • Attractive Design
  • Recognized Brand
  • Cons
  • Common (higher mintage)
  • Bottom Line
  • Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.

A Great Choice for a Mix of Nice Dates

Was this review helpful? Yes/ No

I was sent three rolls of the Indian Head cents and was really impressed with the surprises in all three, plus I received them in a matter of only a few days. Because they were random draws from the timeline, I was expecting to see the majority of them in the 1905-1908 range, but I was astonished to find examples back to 1892, and not a single one graded less than a solid Good. There were even a choice few easily in the VF category. This purchase was a great value and a lot of fun to sort through. I'll be very happy to make this selection again in the future.
