These interesting notes were part of a Bureau of Engraving & Printing experiment to test the comparative durabilities of different types of paper in circulation. The R (regular) and S (special) notes were put into circulation in mid 1944. No conclusive results were found from this trial. Just under 1.2 million of each were printed, so these are relatively scarce when compared to regular issues of series 1935. These R overprint notes being offered are in Fine condition. With an original printing of 1,184,000 notes, these Silver Certificates are not that easy to find. Add this great collectors item to your cart today!
