Buying Gold coins like Gold Coronas can be a good investment strategy.

Gold coins with a high numismatic or collector value are coins that are sought out by collectors and valued for their history, rarity or unique design. An investor’s focus is trained on Gold bullion with high raw Gold value and low numismatic value. Gold Coronas from the Austrian Mint are ideal investments as many are re-strikes. As a result, the Gold coins are not rare and, therefore, have a low numismatic value and are not considerably more than the Gold spot price. Investors like to add Gold Coronas to their Gold holdings because Coronas are a sovereign coin backed by the Austrian Mint, which means that even though the Gold coins have aesthetic value, the coins have low premium prices. And while premiums are typically lower, the history is still rich. As one of the most popular bullion choices in the 1970s, and original mintage dates back to as early as 1908.

Once you buy Gold Coronas, find the right place for secure storage.

When you buy Gold bullion, you will want to make sure you have a spot to store these Gold coins. You can store Gold coins at home and even display your favorite ones, but at some point you may want to consider finding reliable, secure storage like Citadel Global Depository Services, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of APMEX. Place your Gold Coronas and the rest of your Precious Metals here, and benefit from Citadel’s insurance against theft, damage and physical loss. When you buy Austrian Mint products or other Precious Metals available at APMEX, you will also receive free shipping directly to the Citadel vault.

The Austrian Gold 100 Coronas coin was originally minted between 1908 and 1914 to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the reign of Franz Joseph I of Austria.

Best premium I've found

Was this review helpful? Yes/ No

I bought ten and have zero complaints. All were restrikes. I bought a "1 oz 10-Coin Gold Philharmonic Coin Tube" at the same time and it fits ten of these perfectly for better storage. If my budget was a bit higher I'd buy more today.

beautiful coin with low premium

Was this review helpful? Yes/ No

if you are looking to add gold, the Austria 100 Coronas offers a very low premium over spot and gets you something far more gorgeous than a gold bar. Re-strike will probably inhibit much of it's numismatic value, but in return you have nearly 1 troy oz of gold which is much nicer to view/show than a bar. Add to that APMEX superior service makes it a very enjoyable a easy process to purchase.

  • Value (low premium over spot)
  • Attractive Design
  • Recognized Brand
