ARAPAHO TOMAHAWK
The Arapaho Tomahawk was curved from a single pieces of tapering wood, with one end crafted into the form of a horse's head; detailed using brass tacks for eyes and red pigment under the jaw. Other weapons used by the Arapahos included bows and arrows, stone ball clubs, jaw bone clubs, hatchet axe, spears, lances and knives. Painted war shields were used on horseback as a means of defense. The rifle was added to their weapons with the advent of the white invaders.

WAR SHIELD
War Shields were made to be used as a means of defense on horseback only and were therefore found as a defensive weapon amongst the Great Plains Indians. The war shields were made from the skin of a buffalo's neck which had been smoked and hardened with glue extracted from the hoofs of the bison. The more skins used in making the war shields, the better protection they would offer. The war shields were used to deflect arrows but could also provide protection against the spear of an enemy.
