  • Obverse: Designed by Victor David Brenner, a close friend of President Theodore Roosevelt. The design is a replica of a sculpture that Brenner had done of Lincoln a few years earlier. The Lincoln Cent was the first regularly circulating American coin to feature a real person.
  • Reverse: Brenner’s design featuring two wheat stalks with the inscription “ONE CENT”.
