Collect Swiss Gold Helvetias featuring the artwork of Fritz Landry.

Swiss Gold Helvetias are prized among collectors for their beautiful design created by Swiss artist Fritz Landry. Landry’s skill for sculpting and engraving can be seen in the Swiss Gold coins, and it seems likely that growing up in a family of watch-case engravers contributed to his artistic sense. The design of these Gold coins is also influenced by one of his instructors, acclaimed medalist Antoine Bovy. If you appreciate these world coins, browse our Gold coins from other countries to add to your collection.

Buy Swiss Gold Helvetias without worrying about the exchange rate.

Whether you collect Swiss Gold Helvetias, or purchase them as an investment, prices for these Gold coins are based on the spot price of Gold in U.S. dollars. Though you might see Swiss Gold coins being sold in other currencies, the price is always converted from U.S. dollars. Using the U.S. dollar price for a troy ounce of Gold as the standard around the world means that you don’t have to worry about exchange rates when buying these Gold coins. Even if the world coins you are buying are sold by the gram or kilo, the prices are still converted from the troy ounce price in U.S. dollars.

The Swiss Gold 20 Francs Helvetia coin was minted at the Bern Mint from 1897-1935, then again in 1947 and 1949.

A beautiful coin! Couldn't be happier with my purchase!

Was this review helpful? Yes/ No

I have been collecting and investing in many silver coins and bars, as well as a few gold bars and nuggets for some time. However, I had not added any gold coins to my collection. This was the one I chose to be the first, and I couldn't be happier with my choice! A recognizable and widely liked coin among collectors and investors alike. The coin I received is in beautiful condition and was shipped very securely. I will certainly look to APMEX for more gold coins in the future. I'd highly recommend this product to anyone interested in collecting and investing in coins and metals. Thank you!

great buy of antique/"old" gold

Was this review helpful? Yes/ No

Since the Swiss mint no longer makes these, these "Vreneli", as they are known in Europe, are not only a good investment, but make a good collector's item, due to the historic value. Slightly smaller than 1/4 oz, these are a highly reputable gold coin among european afficionados.

  • Pros
  • Attractive Design
  • Collectible (lower mintage)
  • Easy to Sell
  • Recognized Brand
  • Bottom Line
  • Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.

Turn Them Into Cash in Europe!

Was this review helpful? Yes/ No

Not only are these Swiss 20F coins a great way to hold gold, many European banks, especially in Germany and Switzerland, will readily exchange the 1935L, 1947 and 1949 coins for cash. This might not be something to plan on in Europe, but it does show how widely accepted these coins are in select financial markets. Especially in countries that have really learned to appreciate the value of gold.

  • Value (low premium over spot)

I Just got a few of these not to long ago, and have already decided that I will highly consider buying more next time I am in the market for gold. All but one was a restrike but all were in great condition for being in circulation. If your looking to buy gold but are not looking to or able to spend large amounts of money this is a great option.

The coin is a re-strike. I would have preferred another date, being a business-strike, otherwise it is very attractive.

Nice coins

Picked these up to add some interesting fractional gold coins. Received an L1935B (restrike) and a 1947. The grades were easily high AU. Wanting to try something a little different, I got these mainly for bullion, but the coins actually look very good and I am very happy with the purchase.
