Product Details
This 1986 1 oz Gold Eagle has been certified as a mint error by NGC, with a strike-through appearing @ 6:00 o'clock on the obverse. The debris that caused this error is embedded in the surface of the coin, making this an incredibly scarce example!

Coin Highlights:
  • As scarce as strike-through errors are on modern U.S. Mint coins, this example has the debris which caused the error retained on the surface of the coin. These retained strike-through errors are extremely rare.
  • Caused by foreign debris being introduced to the dies during the minting process, this NGC-certified Gold Eagle is a great example of this rare error.
  • NGC encapsulation guarantees the coin’s mint error MS-68 condition.
  • Obverse: Adolph A. Weinman’s design showing Lady Liberty draped in an American flag, walking gracefully as the sun rises over a ridge.
  • Reverse: A heraldic eagle is shown below 13 small stars, representing the original colonies.
  • Sovereign coin backed by the U.S. government.
