In 2020, the United States Mint unveiled upgraded reverse designs for the 2021 Silver Eagles. 2021 is the 35th anniversary of the American Eagle coin series, and the designs started appearing on the coins in mid-year 2021. AIP Designer Emily Damstra produced the 2021 Silver Eagle design, which was sculpted by Mint Medallic Artist Michael Gaudioso. The 2021 American Silver Eagle artwork illustrates a solitary eagle coming in for a landing, carrying an oak branch as if to add it to a nest.
This 2023 Silver Eagle features the Type 2 artwork and is perfect for collectors and investors alike.
The American Silver Eagle Coin Series Original Design
The Walking Liberty design first appeared in 1916 on the half dollar coin. Its creation was part of a U.S. Mint initiative to make American coins more beautiful. They minted the Walking Liberty Half Dollar from 1916 to 1947. The design was created to inspire American ideals and patriotism in mind. The iconic Weinman sketch depicts Liberty personified walking with an American flag draped around her shoulders. Her right arm is outstretched, while her left hand clutches laurel and oak leaves.
