Boston Tea Party
On December 16, 1773, an American political and mercantile protest by the Sons of Liberty in Boston, Massachusetts took place, known as the Boston Tea Party. The demonstrators, protesting taxes in the Townshend Act, boarded tea-carrying ships sent by the East India Company and threw the chests they were contained in overboard into the Boston Harbor. This was harshly viewed by the British government, claiming it an act of treason, which led to the American Revolution.
Commemorating the 250th anniversary of the Boston Tea Party, each APMEXclusive® round contains .999 fine silver featuring a depiction of the historical event.
