American Gold Eagles
The American Gold Eagle series, first authorized by the Gold Bullion Coin Act of 1985 and released in 1986, is available in multiple sizes and denominations, including 1 oz, 1/2 oz, 1/4 oz, and 1/10 oz. Each 1/4 oz coin contains 0.25 troy ounces of pure gold, but due to its .9167 fineness, the total weight of each coin is approximately 8.48 grams (0.2727 troy ounces). The series is highly regarded for its iconic designs and is widely recognized as a dependable investment in precious metals.
2025 1/4 oz American Gold Eagle Design
The obverse of the 2025 Gold Eagle continues to feature Lady Liberty, holding a torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left—a design by Augustus Saint-Gaudens that first appeared on the 1907 $20 Gold Double Eagle. The reverse, introduced in 2021 by Jennie Norris, provides a modern interpretation with a detailed close-up of a bald eagle, replacing the original design by Miley Busiek.
