The 1870s issues of paper money are not easily obtained, especially in better grades. These notes were part of the series issued after the Civil War, during the Reconstruction period. They reflect the economic conditions and financial policies of the time.
Series 1880 $10 United States Note (aka Legal Tender Note). This is a scarcer note that features Daniel Webster on the face. Commonly called a "jackass" note, as the eagle at center looks like a "jackass" when turned upside down.
