These Series 1935-A $1 Silver Certificates were printed on special paper as part of a trial to compare how this paper would hold up in circulation compared with the regular paper being used. These scarce notes are graded AU-58 EPQ by PMG.
Currency Highlights:
- This denomination and type was used widely in circulation until the 1960s.
- R and S experimental note 2-piece set.
- Graded by PMG as Almost Uncirculated -58 EPQ and housed in an inert currency holder.
- Face: Portrait of George Washington with "Silver Certificate" above and "One Dollar" below. Red "S" and/or Red "R" to the right of the Treasury Seal.
- Back: Familiar design of a $1 bill featuring the Great Seal of the United States.
- Signatures: Julian/Morgenthau—Friedberg #1609 & 1610, respectively.
