The Perth Mint was commissioned to produce the Deadly and Dangerous series in 2006. The series celebrates some of the most terrifying and hazardous of species that are home to Australia. The first coin in the Deadly and Dangerous Coin Series showcased the Red-Backed spider in vibrant colorization. Coins are struck in the country of issue as Tuvalu and with a $1 denomination. A myriad of creatures have graced the annual coin design, including: the White Shark, Blue-Ringed Octopus, Saltwater Crocodile, Eastern Brown Snake, Box Jelly Fish, Spider-Hunting Scorpion, Bull Ant, Death Adder, and Tiger Shark, and the Blue Bottle, otherwise known as the Man o' War. For 2025, The Perth Mint selected the Australian Tiger Snake to highlight.

Representing a major milestone in the Deadly & Dangerous Series, the 2025 Tiger Snake i8s the 20th issue in the famed series. The notorious Tiger Snake is recognized by its distinctive yellow & black banding. The Tiger Snake is large and extremely venomous. Approximately 50% of those suffering an untreated Tiger Snake bite die as a result. In terms of Australian snakebite deaths, this lethal serpent is second only to the Brown Snake.
