Currency Highlights:
Chartered just days before General Robert E. Lee's surrender at Appomattox, the National Union Bank of Boston carries a name steeped in patriotism, tracing its roots to the Union Bank of 1792. This scarce $2 Lazy Deuce, one of only four known from this institution per the National Bank Note Census, embodies a striking relic of post-Civil War banking history.
Though PMG notes a "Corner Missing" flaw, it remains outside the engraved design, preserving the note's strong visual appeal. A prized opportunity to acquire an iconic and increasingly elusive type, discontinued with the return of specie payments in the late 1870s.
This 1875 $2 national note issued by The National Union Bank of Boston has been certified VG-10 by PMG Corner Missing. One of only 4 known. It is a phenomenal opportunity for any currency collector.
