This 1862 $1 legal tender issue is from the Civil War era. The necessity of financing military operations during the Civil War forced the federal government to print paper money. This note is in Almost Uncirculated condition.
Currency Highlights:

- Very Fine condition.
- Face: Large portrait of Salmon P. Chase, secretary of the treasury under President Abraham Lincoln, at left.
- Back: Ornately engraved with the denomination in three locations and the obligation at right.
