These beautiful Gold one-dollar coins from Singapore were issued in 1983-1984 and feature a traditional Asian design: a swimming Koi carp with lotus flowers. This image symbolizes beauty that comes out of hard circumstances.

The reference is coming from the growth of the lotus flower, which grows out of muddy ponds. It further represents pain, struggle and growth.

  • Contains 1/10 oz of .999 fine Gold.
  • Coins will be in Brilliant Uncirculated condition and comes in protective packaging.
  • Limited mintage of 30,000 coins.

Just sayin'

Was this review helpful? Yes/ No

I ordered one of these because I really enjoy the design, but the coin I received has an issue with red spotting. It has one on the obverse and one on the reverse...and they're pretty noticeable and make people unfamiliar with the phenomena question the authenticity of the metal which can be a problem if you plan on flipping them later. For those who don't know red spotting happens when metallic dust (copper is often the culprit, but sometimes it's other things like silver too) contaminates the surface of the coin and oxidizes. This usually occurs at the mints where they use the same equipment to work with a variety of different metals. It happens and doesn't really bother me too much, but I thought that this was an issue others should be aware of if they plan on purchasing these particular coins or other products produced by the mint that makes these.

  • Pros
  • Attractive Design
  • Collectible (lower mintage)
  • Cons
  • Hard to Sell
  • Bottom Line
  • Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.
