This series celebrates one of Canada’s most iconic and innovative aviation projects. The Avro Arrow, despite its cancellation in 1959, continues to inspire as a testament to Canadian technical prowess and ambition. Commissioned during the Cold War to defend North America, the Avro Arrow was a Canadian marvel. It featured pioneering technologies like a fly-by-wire control system and advanced engines capable of Mach 2 speeds. The design of the coin captures the Arrow’s legacy through the first prototype, RL-201, flying over Lake Ontario, where its scaled models were tested.
