This beautifully engraved Bond Certificate is from The New York Central and Hudson River Railroad Company. This company was created on November 1st, 1869 when Vanderbilt merged the New York Central Railroad with his Hudson River Railroad. New York City's Grand Central Terminal is one of its most recognizable existing landmarks.
Portrait at top of Cornelius Vanderbilt II, grandson of Commodore and son of William H. Vanderbilt. Cornelius Vanderbilt II is the grandfather of Gloria Vanderbilt and great-grandfather of television news anchor Anderson Cooper.
