Here is a like new example of the the first of the famous "Funny Back" notes that survived the Great Depression without seeing any circulation!

This series 1928-A $1 Silver Certificate was one of the first of this type in the new "small size" notes introduced in 1928. This reduction in size from the older large size notes was done as a cost saving measure (hard to believe that the government actually did something to save money!) with all paper currency being used at that time.
This note has been certified as Gem Uncirculated 65 with the additional notation of EPQ (Exceptional Paper Quality).
Although over 2 billion of this series were printed, they are not easy to find this nice! Signatures are Woods/Mellon and Friedberg#1601. A very attractive note!
