This attractive certificate from the Bradbury Gold and Silver Mining Company located in Silver Cliff, Custer County, Colorado - incorporated under the laws of the States of Colorado November 1st, 1881.

In June 1878 dark greasy-looking rock found on a sheer cliff near present day Silver Cliff was discovered to be 75% Silver and so the boom began. The towns incorporation occured on February 10th, 1879. By 1881, the year Bradbury Gold and Silver was incorporated, it was estimated that between 6,000 and 16,000 people lived in Silver Cliff. By 1880 census figures, Silver Cliff was the third largest city, behind Denver and Leadville.

Top vignette depicts the mining company's name in a very ornate fashion. Unissued, yet signed by the President which is a unique combination.
This is an excellent display piece for the history lover of the "Wild West" particularly as related to the boom and bust cycles of westward expansion in search of riches. Dimensions are 5.25"x8.25"
