This attractive $1,000 bond certificate is a great piece from over 100 years ago. It comes in various denominations and multiple colors, determined by stock on hand.

This registered bond certificate is from the City of Providence circa 1880s to 1920. It was printed by American Bank Note Company. One of the first cities established in the United States was Providence, founded in 1636 by Roger Williams (who was exiled from Massachusetts due to his religious convictions). It is the most populous city of Rhode Island.
