When these Silver Dollars were first released, they were meant to commemorate the recently deceased President Eisenhower and legislation to create them was signed into effect by President Richard Nixon.

Coin Highlights:
  • Contains .3161 oz. of Silver.
  • Multiples of 20 are packaged in protective plastic tubes. All other coins will be in protective packaging.
  • Obverse: Features a striking profile of General/President Dwight David Eisenhower facing left with the legend of “LIBERTY” above his head. Underneath his chin is the motto “IN GOD WE TRUST” with the date at the base of his profile. Mintmarks appear below Eisenhower’s neck above the third and fourth number in the date.
  • Reverse: Reflects the design of the Apollo XI’s insignia. Depicted is an eagle flying over the surface of the moon with an olive branch firmly grasped in his claws with a small Earth turned so that North America can be seen. Pleased with the purchase, priced too high.

Got a 1974. The coin is in good condition. It's definitely not as nice as the image. The photo should have shown signs of toning like the Peace dollar product image and similar coins. There is a brown mark on a small part of the edge but other than that it's fine.

  • Bottom Line
  • Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.

I like Ike!

Was this review helpful? Yes/ No

The Ike dollar came in good condition from the mail. I had the copper-nickel clad Ike dollar when I was a kid that went missing or stolen by a troubled classmate. Now I have the silver variant of this dollar coin which I'm glad to have in my growing collection. I got it at a fair price, I know at the flea market the vendor would charge me more money for one.

  • Pros
  • Attractive Design
  • Mint Condition
  • Recognized Brand
  • Cons
  • Common (higher mintage)
  • Bottom Line
  • Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.

The Forgotten Dollar

Was this review helpful? Yes/ No

I am trying to own a good example of coin types in America and bought this one. I am mid-40's in age and grew up with these and remember as a kid playing with the large coins. So nostalgic feelings aside, this is an awesome example of the last of the large dollar coins and is in definite BU condition. Excellent price for a memory and great example of end of an era in dollar coins.
