The Peace Dollar is highly sought after by collectors, as it experienced one of the briefest minting periods of any U.S. currency and also was the last Silver Dollar to be minted. This popular design was minted from 1921 to 1928, then again in 1934 and 1935, due to changes in legislation.

Anthony di Francisci's Peace Dollar was the result of a contest looking for a new dollar design. His unique rendition of Lady Liberty was based on the actual Statue of Liberty, resulting in a patriotic and familiar look. The eagle on the reverse clutches an olive branch in its talons, symbolizing peace and commemorating the peace seen after WWI.

The Morgan Dollar holds a special place in U.S. coinage as it was the first coin to feature Lady Liberty with an American look, rather than the traditional Greek style. Her cap is adorned with wheat and cotton as a tribute to America's agricultural history.

The image of the eagle was also updated for the Morgan Dollar, showing a proportionally correct eagle with beautifully designed feathers. He carries an olive branch, showing America's desire for peace, and is perched atop a bundle of arrows, signifying America's readiness to defend her borders against attack.

The Morgan Dollar flooded the markets from 1878-1904. Nearly two decades after production halted, the Morgan Dollar was seen again for one year only, in 1921, due to a renewed desire for this iconic, beautiful design.

WOW APMEX!

I purchased 300 (3 bags) of Cull Peace/Morgan Dollars when silver prices took a little dip last week. These coins were in MUCH better condition than I expected. About 65% Peace and 35% Morgans. Most had either been cleaned or artificially toned or had some light scratches. Despite this, most still had great eye appeal. Less than 10% were rim ding and or graffiti, corrosion, etc. Even those coins were not horrible by any means. All but one had clear dates. Many would grade VF-XF Details/Cleaned. They aren't concourse quality but could easily be resold at a trade day or festival type venue. I am very, very pleased. I will order more of these.

Excellent choices

Was this review helpful? Yes/ No

This is my 3rd time ordering culls from APMEX. Each time the culls arrived and I was pleasantly surprised. While there were a few true "culls", most were in good to almost very fine shape. The nicer ones, of course, were common dates. However, there have even been some lower mintage dates. Nothing rare or high dollar. They are fun, as anything, to treasure hunt. We look for errors and have found a few. The coins are easy to sell, so we can keep coming back and continue hunting. Thanks APMEX!

  • Collectible (lower mintage)

  • Recognized Brand
  • Cons

Great starter diversity purchase

Was this review helpful? Yes/ No

The (cull) Morgan & Peace silver dollars are a great way to begin diversifying a portfolio at a moderate price. I personally expect that these pieces will be easier to transact should the need arrise, too. Since the delivered coins are in various condition, some can be cleaned by you at home. Like all coins and precious metal, these make great gifts, and can be used in jewlery, belt buckles and bolo ties if you're crafty. And of course, they're perfectly fine to serve as an hedge against inflated paper!

  • Value (low premium over spot)
  • Bottom Line
  • Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.

Newbe at this , but Im impressed .

Was this review helpful? Yes/ No

I bought these coins because Im tired of anemic interest rates. If silver goes up considerably I can always sell them , not thinking of retiring on the profits but it is nice to have something of real value (not paper) that you can hold in your hand. I don't know anything about numismatic value so Im sticking with culls mostly. I tried the local coin stores , they cant really compete with APMEX ( at least on culls anyway)
