This restrike was minted by the Royal Canadian Mint in 2002, from the actual Gold ingots assayed by Justh & Hunter in 1857. These historical ingots were recovered from the wreck of the S.S. Central America in 1987 by the Columbus-America Discovery Group.
Coin Highlights:- Worldwide mintage of only 4,006 restrike coins.
- Contains .54 oz actual Gold weight and a purity of .906 fine.
- PCGS encapsulation protects and guarantees the authenticity of the restrike coin. Labels may vary.
- Obverse: Features a Cowboy or Spanish Vaquero riding horseback with the date - 1857/0 directly below the image. The inscriptions read "California Gold." above and "Ten Dollars" below.
- Reverse: Features a heraldic eagle with a shield on its breast. Surrounding the eagle is the inscriptions "Baldwin & Co" and "Justh & Hunter" above. Below the inscriptions read "S.S. Central America" and "San Francisco".
