Coins displaying pictures of rare and beautiful animals are preferable in my opinion to coins displaying political symbols. It also helps to know that the Platypus coin is marketed at a lower premium over spot than the competition. However, it is not clear whether Platinum coins will turn out to be a good investment.
- Pros
- Mint Condition
- Collectible (lower mintage)
- Value (low premium over spot)
- Attractive Design
- Recognized Brand
- Bottom Line
- Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.

This is a nice looking coin with a dual finish (frosty bits and shiny bits). This duality also extends to the levity of the coin, which features the ever-present (and serious looking) head of Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse, and the ever-silly platypus on the reverse. I highly recommend it, not only for its looks, but also because 'platinum platypus' is so fun to say. Investing is serious but it does not have to be boring.
- Pros
- Attractive Design
- Recognized Brand
- Bottom Line
- Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.

What else would you want on a platinum coin? The egg-laying, duck-billed, beaver-tailed, otter-footed mammal that lays eggs instead of giving live birth. No, not Queen Elizabeth, on the other side: the Platypus!
- Pros
- Attractive Design
- Bottom Line
- Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.

This coin is fabulous! I am a very fussy collector and am amazed at the beauty of this Australian masterpiece. It looks like a reverse proof and the detail in the Queens's hair and crown is exceptional. For a coin that is usually sold as bullion it beats the collectible Eagles by the US Mint.
- Bottom Line
- Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.
