I was experiencing the same problems as the others who claimed that 38-40mm air-tight holders would not fit in holes. But then I did what customer service wrote (about 4 reviews below): fit the holders from the bottom up. Works almost perfectly.

Though I deal with several other Retailers for my Precious Metal needs, this is my first time with APMEX and once I found them I am without a doubt coming back again ! I had been looking All over the place for a Display Box to display my Variety of Silver and Gold Coins/Rounds and sure enough here it was, just what I was looking for ! ...and order the 40mm AIR-TITE capsules!! The box itself is awesome, I absolutely recommend it, however: * 41mm capsules will not fit without ruining the insert. * 40mm Air-Tites: Perfect * 39mm capsules fit fine, anything less will fall out of the insert. **It's top heavy, when empty. Insert/coins in place: No worries, but when you're messing around with your cool new display box, don't leave that single BU Maple-Leaf sitting in there alone: it'll get launched!! Totally glad I bought it, just wish I would have gotten the six capsules I needed, on the same order.

The box itself is very nice for the price, however the insert for the coins does not fit any of the coins it claims to fit. I used an oscillating spindle sander to increase the diameter of the holes, which are about 1mm too small. This seems to be true of all inserts for every box I have purchased for any size coin, so plan on putting a little work into getting your coins to fit. Boxes are worth the effort.

Merchant response: Please keep in mind that the inserts are designed to fit Air-Tite Direct-Fit holders from 27 mm to 40 mm and Air-Tite holders with gaskets 26 mm to 32 mm. It might be easier to fit the holders from the bottom of the insert rather than the top.

The box is constructed very well and is a perfect way to display your coins. Contrary to other posts, I was able to fit 10 coins of various sizes into the slots with little to no effort (Eagle, Libertad, Maple leaf, Fiji Taku, Britannia, Rwanda Impala, etc). FYI, all direct fit Air-tite holders from 32 - 40 mm have the SAME outside diameter, so no matter what the actual size of the coin is, it is the same size with the air-tite capsule. The only struggle I had was with the Perth mint and China Panda coins, which come in their own non-standard size capsule. Those were just a hair larger and took a little work and patience to pop in, but they also fit with no modification needed. I definitely recommend this box!

A well constructed, attractive box...........except airtite capsules don`t fit....certainly not AmericanSilver Eagles......would need to go in unprotected. The Canadian Maple leafs fit nicely in a capsule. I am using the box for Maples...nice....but it is not good for the 10 most common 1 oz bullion coins because most of these are too big to fit in the openings (with capsule)
