Very Fine $500 Note!
The $500 denomination dates to the Civil War, when the notes were large size (about 7.375 by 3.125 inches). The notes were reduced to their current size and first issued in 1928. The obverse of this 1934-A series bill features a central portrait of President William McKinley. The words "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and “FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS" are printed on the reverse.
This particular Federal Reserve Note is from the Kansas City district, for which there were 55,200 notes printed. The serial number is J00060587A. This note is close to Extra Fine, but with a small group of holes in the center, we are calling it a Very Fine plus example with nice crispy paper.
