This Gold coin dates from the reign of the Byzantine Emperor Phocas (602-610 AD). It contains 4.41 grams actual Gold weight and was produced at the Constantinople mint.
The obverse shows a facing bust of Phocas with the inscription dNN FOCAS PERP AVG. The reverse shows VICTORIA AVGY and an angel standing holding a long staff. CONOB appears below. Officinae I.
The coins in this listing have been notated for graffito or being clipped, but have been graded Extra Fine by NGC. Certainly not bad for a coin struck more than 1,400 years ago!
