High denomination currency is often referred to as the “Bullion” of currency because of their popularity and accessibility. Originally intended for commerce between banks, however, they slowly made their way into circulation and are now highly collected.

Currency Highlights:
  • Each note comes housed in a Capital plastics deluxe currency holder.
  • Graded Very Fine+.
  • Notes in this listing will be moderately circulated.
  • Face: Portrait of William McKinley (25th U.S. President).
  • Back: Numeral 500 and the phrase “Five Hundred Dollars”.

Federal Reserve Notes are a great part of history that can easily be added to any collection. Add these great conversation pieces to your cart today!

An interesting aspect of the Federal Reserve Notes from 1928 is that their redemption wording states, "Redeemable in Gold on Demand at the United States Treasury, or in Gold or Lawful Money at any Federal Reserve Bank." No Federal Reserve Note since 1928 has carried this redemption.

Although they are still technically legal tender in the United States, high-denomination bills were last printed on December 27, 1945, and officially discontinued on July 14, 1969, by the Federal Reserve System, supposedly due to "lack of use".
