This large Gold 8 Escudos was struck at the Cartagena Mint when Colombia was a part of the Spanish colonies in South America. The obverse of this historic coin carries a likeness of King Charles III of Spain. Crowned arms within a chain are on the reverse.
Its fineness is .875 with an actual Gold weight of .7614 oz. This example has been graded AU-55 by NGC. Eighteenth century Gold coins from Columbia this well preserved don't show up with much frequency, so don't miss out! KM# 50.1.
