2014-P Baseball HOF $1 Silver Commem MS-70 PCGS (Dawson)

Baseball has been America’s favorite past time for over a century and has brought both smiles and tears to millions of faces from sea to shining sea. To honor baseball’s place in America’s lexicon, the U.S. Mint has produced a unique coin in that it has a concave obverse and a dome shaped reverse. This is the first curved coin in U.S. Mint history! The obverse features an open glove while the reverse features a baseball, which are some of the most distinguishable elements of the game. Each coin contains .77344 oz of pure Silver and has been graded a Perfect Mint State-70, with an actual signature of Hall of Famer Andre Dawson!

Andre Dawson, nicknamed "The Hawk," and "Awesome Dawson" was a major league baseball player for 21 seasons from 1976-1996. He began his career with the Montreal Expos and was also a member of the Chicago Cubs and Boston Red Sox while finishing his career with the Florida Marlins. His career batting average is .279 with 2,774 hits, 438 home runs and nearly 1,600 RBI's. He also racked up eight Gold gloves in the field. He was named Rookie of the Year in 1977 and was an 8-time All Star. In 1987 he won the MVP award after leading the league with 49 hom runs and 137 RBI's. Earlier in his career he was a strong baserunner and is one of only 8 MLB players to have at least 300 home runs and 300 stolen bases in their career. He hit is 400th home run at Fenway Park as a member of the Boston Red Sox. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2010 as a Montreal Expo.
