MintDirect® tubes are the perfect way to begin your investment in Silver bullion. Add the 2016 Silver American Eagle MintDirect® tube to your cart today!
APMEX uses a special machine for this sealing process to ensure the products you receive are sealed completely, once they are removed directly from the mint boxes. The mint tubes are placed on the conveyor leading into the machine and the sealing process seals both ends of each tube with tamper-evident packaging. If this tube has been opened in any way, you will know it. After the process is completed, the tube is removed from the machine and then checked to ensure the quality of the packaging meets our exacting standards. You now have a finished tube of MintDirect® 2016 1 oz Silver American Eagle coins.
Once completed, the MintDirect® tubes are stored back in the vault until they are ordered by our customers. By using this process, APMEX can guarantee the coins you receive are in exactly the same condition and packaging as they were when they left the United States Mint.
The MintDirect® process provides you the assurance this product has not been opened, sorted or searched. Click here to learn all about MintDirect® products from APMEX.
The history of 2016 1 oz Silver American Eagles
2016 1 oz Silver American Eagles are part of the line of Silver American Eagles produced by the U.S. Mint. The 1 oz Silver coins were initially introduced to the Precious Metals market in 1986 as a way of selling off a portion of the U.S. Defense national stockpile of Silver. The Silver coins for sale, under the Liberty Coin Act, are required to have both legal tender and numismatic value, and the Silver bullion must contain one troy ounce of .999 fine Silver. The design of the Silver bullion has made it especially popular and very American with Lady Liberty on the obverse and an eagle on the reverse.

Before buying 2016 1 oz Silver American Eagles, it is best to understand how Silver is priced.
Before you buy 2016 1 oz Silver American Eagles, it is wise to fully understand how the price of Silver is determined. The base price of 1 oz Silver coins and other Precious Metals is the Silver spot price, a fluctuating price set by global markets for unfabricated Silver, but no one can buy Silver at this price. Instead, people buy Silver and Precious Metals at the premium price, which includes the cost of fabrication, distribution, nominal dealer fee and any numismatic or collector value for rare coins. For example, when you see U.S. Mint Silver coins for sale listed as $3.39 per coin over spot, that means the premium price you will pay for the coin is $3.39 over the spot price.
