Disapointed

Was this review helpful? Yes/ No

I bought 2 rolls, and ended up with nearly an entire roll of 1919 S pennies. There were very few mintmarks for the other years. I also found a 1930 P in one of the rolls.

  • Cons
  • Common (higher mintage)
  • Poor Condition
  • Bottom Line
  • No, I would not recommend this to a friend

18s and 19s

Was this review helpful? Yes/ No

Figured I'd buy a roll of teens Wheaties to try and fill some spots in my dansco Lincoln cent album, unfortunately the entire roll was 1918 and 1919 Philadelphia. However the item was exactly as described and I am satisfied with the purchase.

Disappointing

Was this review helpful? Yes/ No

Two rolls: 1919-P x31,1919-S x4,1918-P x29,1917-P x13,1916-P x15,1916-D x2,1915-P x1,1914-P x1,1911-P x3,1927-P x1 (huh?). Barely any non-P in the batch, one random coin from 1927, 60% were only two types 1919-P and 1918-P. Lame.

  • Cons
  • Common (higher mintage)
  • Bottom Line

This product should be called: A collection of mediocre teen dates. Too date, I have purchased a total of 8 rolls & am none too pleased. Out of all of that, I found 4 1911's, "Possibly" one 1910, though I still can't determine whether the last number is an "8" or "0." NO 1909's, No 1912's, 13's, one 1914 which I hoped would be a D or S, but wasn't, no 1915's, a few 16's a few with mint marks, a ton of 17's, 18's & 19's. Very few mint marks. This is the very 1st time that I have not been totally satisfied with an APMEX purchase. The first time, I got 2 rolls, wanted to purchase the 1,000 count 20's bag, but it was sold out, so I rolled the dice on these rolls again & was really disappointed. I am a prolific customer of APMEX & have always found their products to "Err" on the side of actually being BETTER than what they describe, but this situation here is an incredible disappointment. APMEX is a great company, reputable, but I don't know if there's truly a way that these purchases can be free of "Hanky Panky" by someone along the way. APMEX as to be "Innovative" & find a way to make sure these products aren't "Picked Over" but I don't know if that can be done. I usually wait until I get e mailed to evaluate my purchases, & my reviews are always "Glowing" & it makes me sad that I have to write this. I find it hard to believe that there were so few "Good" coins. Of course, there is intrinsic "Copper Bullion" value attached here, but I didn't purchase these items for bullion. Until a way can be found to make sure these products are truly unsearched, purged, etc, I don't think I'll ever buy an item like this again. Very Disappointed; I expect more out of this company. Sorry.

Merchant response: This type of product listing is intended for customers wishing to purchase the largest volume of coins for their money. We try to provide a wide mixture of years. For customers looking for more collectible items or hoping to complete collections, this may not be the best product to choose. More collectible year coins will be separate listings designated by a specific year.
