APMEX is proud to present the 7 Wonders of the Ancient World series. This exciting series will include seven releases featuring limited mintages of 7,777 silver and 77 gold rounds, respectively. Each iteration of silver and gold rounds will include a beautiful design that depicts a mystical wonder of the ancient world and an effigy of a historical figure relevant to the subject, in addition to the denomination applicable to the period.

Fifth Release: The Great Pyramid of Giza
The Great Pyramid of Giza is the largest Egyptian pyramid and the oldest and most intact of the 7 Wonders of the Ancient World. The pyramid was built roughly 4,500 years ago for the Fourth Dynasty pharaoh Khufu. Pharaohs were believed to turn into gods in the afterlife, so pyramids were grand tombs that contained goods that would sustain them in the next life. There are many theories on how the pyramid was built but experts cannot agree on one, which adds an air of mystery to this incredible structure. Fourth Release: Temple of Artemis
The Temple of Artemis, now in western Turkey, is one of the 7 Wonders of the World known for its historic value and famous artwork. The Temple of Artemis was a Greek temple dedicated to an ancient local form of the goddess Artemis, who represents wild animals, the hunt, and childbirth. It featured various iconic sculptures and paintings and silver and gold gilded columns. The magnificent temple was first erected by Croesus, king of Lydia, around 550 BCE. In legend, Alexander the Great was born on the day it first burned down, and it was said that the goddess Artemis couldn’t save her temple because she was so preoccupied with Alexander’s birth. This release has 77 gold and 7,777 silver rounds that depict the renowned Temple of Artemis.

The third release in this exciting series features the Lighthouse at Alexandria. The Lighthouse at Alexandria was built in Ancient Egypt between 284 and 246 BC. Estimated to have stood at least 330 feet in height, it was known as one of the tallest man-made structures in the world for many centuries. The Lighthouse was eventually damaged by earthquakes between 956 and 1323 AD. Silver rounds displaying the Lighthouse and an effigy of Ptolemy II Philadelphus, the pharaoh of Egypt during the time of construction, will be available in this release with a low mintage of 7,777 rounds featuring an edgemark with the round’s weight and purity.
Second Release: Hanging Gardens of Babylon
The second release in this exhilarating series features the Hanging Gardens of Babylon. The Hanging Gardens of Babylon were depicted as an astonishing engineering accomplishment with an ascending series of tiered gardens. The Hanging Gardens of Babylon are the only one of the Seven Wonders without a conclusively established location. Gold and Silver rounds displaying the famous Hanging Gardens and King Hammurabi, the famous Babylonian king, along with the famous Gardens are available with this second release in limited mintages.
First Release: Colossus of Rhodes
The first release in this thrilling series featured the Colossus of Rhodes. The Colossus of Rhodes was a massive 33-meter statue erected on the Greek island of Rhodes. Depicting the sun god Helios, it was created shortly after the Siege of Rhodes' victory, where they successfully defended the island against the Macedonians. King Ptolemy I of Egypt, a close ally of the city, was a great asset in this victory. His effigy is displayed on the reverse along with a denomination accurate to the era.
