First Coinage of the Romanov Dynasty. These Silver kopeks of Tsar Michael I are referred to as the 1st money of the Romanov Dynasty, which almost did not begin with Michael.
When first told he had been elected Tsar by the National Assembly, Michael, then aged 16, wept and refused the position. He eventually consented and his descendants ended up ruling Russia for another 300 years.
