This stunning 1 kilo Silver coin features a design of the Sun Stone of the Aztec Calendar on the reverse in spectacular detail. The mint mark of the Casa de Moneda de Mexico (Mo) is on the right side, while on the left is the legal tender denomination "$100" followed by the year of minting, 2013, and the legend "1 KG PLATA PURA LEY .999" (1 KG PURE SILVER FINENESS .999).
In the center of the obverse is a sculptural relief of the National Shield, encompassed by the legend "ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS" (UNITED MEXICAN STATES). Surrounding this along the edge of the coin are reproductions of different national coats of arms used throughout Mexico's history.

You don't buy one of these because it's a chunk of silver (although that's a bonus) .. you buy it because it's a work of art. The Perth mint monsters are cool to stack, but this is one you'd put on display. The wooden box is also a work of art in itself. Curiously, Apmex ships the coin and the box/papers separately but that's probably just to save space in their vault. They only make 500 of these so get one to prove to your friend that the ancients were wrong about the world ending in 2012.
