I got into gold because of the bible. I pre ordered these back in December of 2013, and it took me long to finally comment here in APMEX and I'm happy. Found out that gold is what really has true value that has lasting truth at the same time. I like the gold eagle because of its durability, thought about gold maple, Philharmonic, etc and went for the eagle because its durable. And if and when I want to not store it in capsule and to hold it once in a while I can without scratching it. 24K scratches too easy and you lose value that way. 22K is the crown gold hence the name says for itself. Happy owner and will continue to collect gold eagles.

Oh as for the reviewer named MIM just look how unhappy he is for an eagle being scratched imagine if it was a Maple or Philharmonic, Australian Kangaroo, etc boy your in for a surprise. Oh and to reply to his comment, my eagles came clean no scratches but if it did I think I would want them clean free of any scratches since that's why I won't get 24K gold because the probability is much higher for those to get more easily scratched than 22K.

I also like Krugerrand because its also 22K but eagle looks more nicer in color and in detail.

I paid a premium to pre-order the 2014 gold American eagles. However, when I received them they all had a similar rough spot on the eagle side of the coin near the center right below where the eagle carries the branch. I was unhappy enough to exchange them for new ones. When I received the new 2014 gold eagles, they had similar rough areas on the eagle side of the coin (about the size of a dime in the center of the coin, some smaller). The coins did not appear to be scratched or scuffed, but more like dull where the center of the coin looks rough and not shiny. It's almost as if there is some kind of manufacturing flaw in the mold for the 2014 gold eagles on the eagle side of the coin. The lady liberty side of the coin has been perfect on all coins I have received. Not sure if I should go through the trouble to return them yet again. The coins look ok but not mint, which is what I paid for. I had no such issues with my 2013 gold eagles that I purchased from APMEX. Odd since I am buying the 2014s which there is no chance they were previously circulated. I also bought a bunch of 2014 silver eagles and had no such issues. has anyone else had this issue with the 2014 gold eagles?
