Shown on the obverse are Popocatépetl and Iztaccíhuatl, two volcanoes that overlook the Valley of Mexico. These volcanoes tell a story of two lovers from warring families, similar to Romeo and Juliet. The volcanoes represent the warrior Iztaccíhuatl mourning the death of his beloved Popocatépetl.

APMEX created the MintDirect® process to assure each of these 2015 Silver Libertad tubes comes directly from sealed Banco de Mexico boxes, guaranteeing these .999 fine Silver coins have not been searched or sorted since minting.

APMEX uses a special machine for this sealing process to ensure the products you receive are sealed completely, once they are removed directly from the mint boxes. The mint tubes are placed on the conveyor leading into the machine, and the sealing process seals both ends of each tube with tamper-evident packaging. If this tube has been opened or tampered with in any way, you will know it. After the process is completed, the tube is removed from the machine and checked to ensure the quality of the packaging meets our exacting standards. You now have a finished tube of 2015 1 oz Silver Mexican Libertad coins.

Once completed, the MintDirect® tubes are stored in the vault until they are ordered by our customers. By using this process, APMEX can guarantee the coins you receive are in exactly the same condition and packaging as they were when they left the Banco de Mexico.

The MintDirect® process provides you the assurance this product has not been opened, sorted or searched. Click for more details.

Note: The MintDirect® process does not guarantee protection from spotting or tarnishing that normally occurs in chemically active metals, such as Gold, Silver and Platinum.

When you buy Silver know the difference between an ounce and a troy ounce

When you buy 1 oz Silver Libertads, you are purchasing 1 troy ounce of .999 fine Silver. A 1 troy ounce 2015 Silver Libertad is equal to 1.09711 avoirdupois ounces. Troy weights, like those used to measure Silver Mexican coins and other Precious Metal bullion, were first used in England in the 15th century, and were made official for Gold and Silver in 1527.

When you buy Silver, its value is influenced, in part, by its industrial uses.

The Silver in a 2015 Silver Libertad also has a number of uses, increasing Silver bullion coin demand and its value. Besides uses in Silver Mexican coins, Silver bars and Silver rounds, Silver is also used to make jewelry, medical and consumer products, and more. The Silver found in 1 oz Silver Libertads and bullion does not easily corrode or oxidize, and Silver is an excellent thermal and electrical conductor, making it an ideal part of industrial components. When buying Silver coins for investments, it is important to watch market trends for Silver uses to better gauge supply and demand to ensure you buy and sell at the right time.
