This was my first order from Apmex as I didn't really know what to expect. I paid by wire and the shipping was super fast. I received my order within 4 business days (having ordered on a Friday). I received a nice APMEX box with my order of 5 tubes of 20 coins each. Having said that, I received about 35 2014's, a half dozen 2012's, many 2010's, 2009's, and a few other years including 1 2013, 2002, and a few 2005's. Most of them were in mint condition. However, a couple of the 2009's were noticibly scratched, the 2013 had spots along the top, and 9 of the 2010's were of a half shiny finish and half matte finish which seemed off and NOT like all of the other silver eagles. I read up on this and it appears that the inking process at the mint wasn't changed when it should have been on the 2010 eagles resulting in this finish. So far, Apmex was good about sending me a return postage paid slip and a tube to send back the defective ones. I still await their replacements. I did ask them to send me years older than 2009, so it will be interesting to see what happens. I will report back when I receive them and at what quality coins I got, etc.

Read many great reviews. Ordered 2 random years and did receive 2009 and 2013. Disappointed with 2009 as there were numerous scratches on the reverse and some on the obverse. 2013 obverse was mint condition, but the back had a sizable black mark and chip in the M letter of America. Price is great, but condition greatly matters as well.

Comments about 1 oz Silver American Eagle BU (Random Year):

This is an update to my 10/1/2014 review. I had issues with 12 coins from my order for spotting, scratches, and mint inking issues (2010 Eagles only). Apmex not only sent me an insured & postage paid label for sending these back but also a mint tube in which to send back the damaged Eagles. I received my replacements approximately 2 weeks later and they were all mint 2009's. I realize they had to send what they had in stock, so I am very happy with the way they handled my situation.

Comments about 1 oz Silver American Eagle BU (Random Year):

Several years ago I decided to take the hassle out of gift giving. I don't have the time to shop for anyone, and I hate giving out gift cards, so I decided to take the classy road and use American Silver Eagles as gifts. I give them to my nieces for bdays and xmas, I give them to employees and co-workers, as special occasion gifts, etc. Most people will not go out of their way to spend it, or liquidate it for cash. They hold on to the coins, and in a few years they will be glad that they did!

I've purchased many silver eagles from APMEX and I enjoy the surprise that comes with the random year purchases. They are mostly 2013 and 2014 but you never know when you'll get a rarer year. I've received a couple from the 80s.

For adding long-term value to my coins portfolio as an investment; I also am utilizing a strategy to capitalize on acquisition of short term liquidity from bulk acquisition of quality silver dollar products.

As an option to utilize market silver swings for increasing my value of silver and further acquisitions with sales of bullion to increase my value of scare coins I am acquiring.
                        Basically an re investment strategy.

Customer service is truly alive and well at APMEX.

A cheap way to get a lot $1 Silver eagle, however they all 20 I got were from 2012, a mix a year would have made it a five star item.
I do recommend it for acquiring silver eagle, but I do not recommend if you are looking for a variety of years.

I bought 21 Silver Eagles (random year) because the price was a little lower than 2014s, not because I care about dates of the coins.

I received mostly 2014's with some 12's and 13's as well. I noticed that the '14 coins did appear shinier and newer but all appeared in good BU shape.

SE's have a higher premium than rounds or bars, so if you think you might have to sell off a couple of these at a time to get some quick cash, you may just want to buy bars/rounds because not all local places will pay premium over spot for coins.

                              Service and delivery comments:

This was my 1st ever silver purchase and APMEX service was exceptional. The chat operator answered my general questions about purchasing so I could determine how best to begin my investment in silver.

From placement of order to delivery of coins APMEX sent regular status updates on my order. Delivery was in great shape and I love my that my coins came in a nice APMEX box that I have been using to store my additional silver purchases.
