Proof Finish
Alongside their bullion products, the Mint produces a variety of proof finish coins tailored specifically toward collectors. Using a special striking process and handled individually to ensure the highest quality, these coins showcase their beautiful designs with exceptional detail and a unique finish. Typically found with substantially lower mintages than their bullion counterparts, these coins provide a great combination of the trusted metal content of the bullion issues, but with added appeal for collectors.
Certified Products
Coin certification provides an added layer of security for both investors and collectors. The most trusted grading services, PCGS, NGC, and CAC, provide an independent assessment of condition and verification of authenticity before sealing the coin in a protective plastic holder. Many coins carry significantly more value when certified, especially at the flawless MS- or PR-70 grades, due to their superlative condition and independent guarantee of authenticity.
American Liberty Series
Since 2009, the U.S. Mint has produced a series of gold coins, many with accompanying silver medals, on the theme of Liberty. Each of these coins feature ground-breaking designs and showcase the Mint’s capacities with extremely high production quality. These coins often feature spectacular, groundbreaking designs with extremely high production quality and limited mintages. Though not produced every year, the American Liberty series is one of the most sought-after modern U.S. Mint products.

U.S. Mint
The U.S. Mint does not sell bullion coins directly to the public. Instead, they distribute their coins to a handful of authorized purchasers like APMEX, who then sell the coins to the public. In the years between 1838 and 1933, the U.S. Mint produced Gold coinage that was used as legal tender. The Gold Reserve Act of 1934 removed Gold from circulation in the United States and made it illegal to own Gold bullion. Even now, these historical Pre-1933 coins are wildly popular and highly prized as beautiful collectibles with a great deal of numismatic value.
In 1974, the United States reinstated the ability to legally own Gold bullion. Just 12 years later, the U.S. Mint announced its first Gold bullion series with the Gold American Eagle. These Gold coins have been in high demand ever since, which inspired the United States Mint to begin offering its Gold Buffalo coins as the first 1 oz .9999 fine Gold coins from the U.S Mint. Now, every year, the U.S. Mint produces commemorative Gold coins that honor important people, places and events from United States history.
Since its initial minting in 1986, the most popular U.S. Gold coin has been the highly valued Gold American Eagle, but that is not to say that Gold Buffalos, U.S. Silver Dollars, Platinum American Eagles or Silver American Eagles do not have avid collectors. Beyond their value and purity, U.S. Mint coins are also treasured for their versatility.
