The Peace Silver Dollar is a United States dollar coin minted from 1921 to 1928 and again in 1934 and 1935 due to changes in legislation. Following the iconic Morgan Dollar series, and overlapping for one year, the Peace Dollar represented a shift in U.S. coinage after the first World War. Anthony de Francisci designed the coin, resulting from a competition to find designs emblematic of peace.
The coin is significant in that it commemorates the peace following World War I. Its name, "Peace dollar," is not found on the coin but is derived from the original models, which were inscribed with the word PEACE.

Peace Dollar Design
The obverse side of the coin features the profile of Lady Liberty, modeled after de Francisci's wife, Teresa. The design is striking and modernistic, and Liberty is shown wearing a radiant crown, with rays of sunlight emanating from her head. The word "LIBERTY" is shown above, and the phrase "IN GOD WE TRUST" is below. The mint date is also featured on the obverse.
The reverse design of the Peace Dollar features a bald eagle at rest, clutching an olive branch above the inscription "PEACE." The words "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and "ONE DOLLAR" are inscribed around the border, along with the phrase "E PLURIBUS UNUM" above the eagle.
