Gold Specialty Bullion from Great Britain

Great Britain is home to some of the oldest and most popular gold coins in the world. The Royal Mint produces a range of gold coins known as Gold Specialty Bullion. These coins are designed to be an attractive option for both investors and collectors, due to their intricate designs, limited production runs, and certified authenticity. Gold Specialty Bullion from the Royal Mint offers a variety of design themes such as historical figures, national symbols, and animals – making them perfect for those looking to add a touch of old-world charm to their portfolio. The coins come in several denominations, weights and sizes which may vary depending on the particular coinage being purchased. Collectors can purchase these coins in either single pieces or sets for added convenience.

Since A.D. 886, the Royal Mint has been manufacturing coins for the United Kingdom. In addition to circulating coinage for all of the U.K., the British Royal Mint also mints many commemorative items, including commemorative coins. In the categories below, you will find both bullion and collectible gold coins and other items from the British Royal Mint. We offer both raw and certified gold coins, as well as gold coins of different sizes to fit any budget. Every item in this category comes with a guarantee from the British Royal Mint of the content and purity of the gold.

History of the Royal Mint

The Royal Mint is the world's leading producer of coins and medals and has an incredible history that dates back over 1,100 years. It was originally established in 886 A.D. during the reign of Alfred the Great, who aimed to unite England under a single coinage system. Since then, it has gone on to produce some of the most iconic coins ever created such as the sovereign, which was first minted in 1489 and is still produced today; or the Britannia Coin Series which began in 1987. In 1968, it moved from its original location in Tower Hill to its current home at Llantrisant in South Wales where all British circulating coins are now produced.

Not only has the Royal Mint been responsible for producing all British circulating coins since 1968, but it has also produced the coins of more than 90 countries across the world. Furthermore, it is responsible for creating some of the most popular commemorative coins and collector's items, such as the Olympic 50p piece which was first issued in 1997 and was so successful that it subsequently released a new design each year up until 2012.
