Palladium American Eagle Coins

In 2017, the U.S. Mint has added a new Precious Metal to the American Eagle program, the first American Palladium coin. Each Palladium Eagle coin contains 1 oz of .9995 Palladium. These 1 oz Palladium coins pair the classic obverse of the Mercury dime with a reverse designed by Adolph Weinman in 1907.

American Palladium Eagle Design

The designs on this coin are inspired by the designs from "Renaissance of American Coinage". The obverse displays a young depiction of Liberty with winged Phrygian cap, reminiscent of the Roman god Mercury. Adapted from Adolph Weinman's classic design first used on the Mercury dime in 1917. Adolph A. Weinman’s original Winged Liberty design is considered one of the most beautiful coins of all time. The reverse features a majestic eagle perched atop a rock. This design, also created by Adolph Weinman, has been used since 1907 on the American Institute of Architects' annual Gold Medal.

While Palladium American Eagle coins offer a unique investment opportunity, one ounce Silver American Eagle coins provide a more accessible entry point into precious metals investing with typically lower premiums. Their silver content, coupled with their recognized status, make them an attractive choice for investors seeking to diversify their portfolio with precious metals assets.

Discover the advantages and disadvantages of investing in palladium versus gold and make the right purchase for your investment strategy.
