Product Details
For the first time in 20 years, the U.S. Mint has added a metal to the American Eagle program, the first American Palladium coin. This 1 oz Palladium coin pairs the classic obverse of the Mercury dime with a reverse designed by Adolph Weinman in 1907.

Coin Highlights:
  • Contains 1 oz of .9995 fine Palladium.
  • NGC encapsulation protects and guarantees the perfect 70 condition of the coin.
  • The Early Releases label guarantees this coin was received by NGC within the first 30 days of the coin's release.
  • Worldwide mintage of only 15,000 coins.
  • First year of issue, struck in magnificent high relief at the Philadelphia mint.
  • Obverse: A young depiction of Liberty with winged Phrygian cap, reminiscent of the Roman god Mercury. Adapted from Adolph Weinman's classic design first used on the Mercury Dime in 1916.
  • Reverse: A majestic eagle perched atop a rock along with the weight, purity and $25 face value. This design, also created by Adolph Weinman, has been used since 1907 on the American Institute of Architects' annual Gold Medal.
  • Guaranteed by the U.S. Mint.

First "slabbed" coin

This is my first graded coin. I was apprehensive about paying the premium. But being the first year and only 15k being minted. 892 with this particular label being graded ms70. I went for it and am happy with my order. One small issue was grey spots on the white holder inside the case. After doing some research here is what I found on NGC's website. "The ‘grey spots’ that you refer to appear when the inner core of our holder touches the outer clear plastic shell. Yes, we care about them, and take great efforts to minimize their appearance. These spots do not suggest that there is any moisture inside the holder, or that there is anything defective about the encapsulation. Our holders are made to very exacting tolerances, and odd-size foreign coins or coins that are not perfectly aligned can push the core against the outer shell. Often these spots relax over time, or the core can be repositioned enough to remove the spot by simply knocking the holder against the palm of your hand. Of course, you can always send this coin to NGC for reholder, and we’ll take care of it right away." I tapped on the case and the spots went away. It definitely came from NGC with these spots on it as in NGCs verification website has photos of this coin with spots in the same spot.
